Laura Smith

Laura Smith is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Queensland. Laura is studying the global structure of the sailfish using population genetics, and is also modelling recreational catch of sailfish in Australian waters in relation to oceanographic conditions. Laura has a keen interest in citizen science research and is investigating why recreational anglers may or may not choose to participate in billfish research. Laura has a background in government policy, having previously worked for the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. Laura joined AMSA in 2020.
