Megan Porter
I am a PhD student from Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. I first completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology and a Bachelor of Animal Science (Honours), where my interest in parasitology began. For my PhD project I was lucky enough to be able to combine my newfound interest for parasites with my passion for marine life and ocean sustainability, investigating the parasitism of the Black Jewfish. Having spent eight years studying inland, I have recently relocated back home to the midnorth coast of NSW to complete my PhD, where I hope to soon begin my postdoctoral studies. My research interests continue to grow and I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have collaborated with so many fellow researchers and industry leaders, many of whom share my interest in utilising new tools and ideas to improve life in our oceans.
