Shokoofeh Shamsi
Professor Shokoofeh Shamsi is a senior research fellow at Charles Sturt University. Shokoofeh began working on parasitism in aquatic systems in 1993 in Iran. After receiving a PhD scholarship from the University of Melbourne, Shokoofeh moved to Australia in 2002. Shokoofeh employs a different approach to assessing environmental, combining morphological and molecular techniques to identify parasites which then leads to investigating the drives behind their occurrence and distribution both in their hosts and in the aquatic systems. Shokoofeh has discovered over 30 new pathogenic species for fish and aquatic animals in Australian waters.
