Hector Lozano-Montes
Dr Hector Lozano-Montes’ background is in marine biology and fisheries science, with a strong emphasis on ecological modelling and population dynamics. He has over 15 years of experience in Australia as a marine research scientist. He has strong skills across a range of marine science disciplines and has applied these skills to marine ecosystems assessments including Ecosystem Based Fisheries Management, Management Strategy Evaluation, fisheries impacts, effectiveness of marine protected areas, and assessments for fisheries certifications. In particular, he has provided strategic advice to government agencies and the industry on policy matters to impacts of fisheries, climate change and habitat degradation for clients including Fisheries Research and Development Corporation, Western Australia Fishing Industry Council, Marine Stewardship Council, Western Australia Marine Science Institution, and Gladstone Harbour Council (QLD). Dr Lozano-Montes was selected in 2019 by the United Nations to participate in the Second World Ocean Assessment with a contribution in ecosystem management and fisheries
